I’m  Dhiraj Thareja, and for decades I ran a consulting business— Thareja Inc.—that connected brilliant minds from across the globe to solve real-world problems for clients big and small. Long before remote work became trendy, we were pioneering it. My team included talented developers, designers, project managers, and strategists from every corner of the world. Together, we delivered exceptional results without ever needing to share the same physical space.

But it was during my time working with the United Nations on Project Umoja  that something clicked.

I realized this wasn’t just a one-off story. Even the largest, most bureaucratic organizations in the world were thriving by tapping into global talent. It wasn’t just cost-effective—it was deeply  human, sustainable, and impactful. And as I read through the  UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially around decent work, reduced inequalities, and global partnerships, I saw a powerful opportunity.

We weren’t just working. We were part of a global movement.
